Three Flames Cocktail Ring

This piece was created as I read through “Apotheke: Modern Medicinal Cocktails” by Christopher Tierney and Erica Brod. The ring design is based off of plant and Art Deco inspired wallpapers and interior design seen in “Apotheke”. I imagined a cocktail ring that might be worn by a patron who frequents contemporary speakeasies, with imagery reminiscent of the 20’s and 30’s and an edgy but comfortable design that is best shown off with a cocktail glass in hand.

I used a saw-and-solder champleve technique to achieve the “stone”. The enamel was torch-fired with an open flame introduced directly onto the surface in between each layer, which gives the glass a crackled, vintage look. The ring shank was constructed using square sterling wire interlinked to provide a secure fit while complimenting the enamel design. The two side shanks can be carefully adjusted to fit up to a size 8 middle finger.
